FROM WTVH TV 5:

Sep 16, 2005 – Oswego Mayor John Gosek was arrested on Friday and charged with attempted rape. Investigators with the U.S. attorneys office and the FBI say Gosek made phone calls to someone under the age of 18 and tried to coerce that person into having sex. Gosek was elected Mayor in 2000. This is not the first trouble he’s found himself in. Earlier this year he allowed a friend to borrow his government vehicle and that person was pulled over for speeding. Gosek apologized for that mistake. This more serious charge of attempted rape could land Gosek behind bars for a maximum 30 years if convicted.
